Brenda Orlando, LICSW, LISW
Brenda has been with Heartland since 2012 and serves as the Community-Based Services Director. She holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in social work and is licensed as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in Iowa and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Nebraska. She began her career at Heartland as a provisional therapist and has extensive experience providing therapy and supervising clinical staff.
Brenda’s clinical background directly informs her leadership, ensuring programs are trauma-informed, client-centered, and grounded in best practices. In December 2024, she was promoted to Community-Based Services Director, where she oversees Crisis Services, Permanent Supportive Housing, The Life Center, and Home-Based Services. Her experience working with youth and adults, along with a longstanding history of supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental health needs and those who have experienced trauma, strengthens her ability to guide coordinated and responsive services.
In her spare time, Brenda enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors in nature, and being with her dogs. A good day for her includes a warm spring or summer day outside with her family (including her dogs), enjoying authentic Mexican tacos and a Mountain Dew.
