Julie Mizner, CPSS

Julie Mizner, CPSS

Julie Mizner joined Heartland Counseling Services in September 2022 as a Crisis Responder serving our western coverage areas including Brown, Cherry, Keya Paha, and Rock counties. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Bellevue University and is a Certified Peer Support Specialist.

Julie comes to Heartland with a background rooted in both public safety and recovery work. Over the years she has served as a 911 dispatcher, Corrections Officer, and EMT, experiences that shaped her understanding of crisis, trauma, and the importance of meeting people where they are. She also serves on the Nebraska Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) debriefing team, providing peer support to first responders following critical incidents.

Julie understands firsthand the struggles that can come with mental health and substance use. Because of that, she is passionate about walking alongside others as they find their way out of the hole they may feel stuck in and rediscover hope, healing, and the possibility of recovery.

Julie and her husband, Kyle, have one son. Outside of work and volunteering in the community, much of her time is spent with her son and doing his activities. She also enjoys traveling and loves Alaska.
