Meet Our Team

Jennifer Jackson is the Executive Director of Heartland Counseling Services, Inc., a nonprofit community behavioral health organization serving the Siouxland region since 1977. Raised in South Sioux City, Jennifer has worked at Heartland since 2012, bringing both professional expertise and a deep personal connection to the community into her leadership.

Over the past decade, Jennifer has guided Heartland through significant growth, expanding services, strengthening community partnerships, and increasing access to mental health and substance use treatment for children, adults, and families. Her leadership has focused on building sustainable programs, securing critical funding, and ensuring services remain accessible to those who need them most. Most recently, she has led Heartland’s transition to a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) and the development of a new crisis stabilization and detoxification center to address urgent community needs.

Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree from Briar Cliff University and her master’s degree from the University of Louisville. She approaches her work through a trauma-informed, person-centered lens. Jennifer is married and has three children. Outside of work, she enjoys golfing and spending time watching her children’s sporting events, grounding her leadership in family, balance, and community connection.
